Saint John’s University junior Tony Willaert (North Mankato, Minn./Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial) posted a 2-0 record at 197 pounds as the Johnnies went 2-1 at the Wis.-La Crosse Duals last Saturday, Dec. 5. Willaert defeated Vinnie Sapienza of North Central (Ill.), 4-1 in his first match of the day. He lost to Sapienza 12-5 in the third-place match of the 2009 NCAA Great Lakes Regional last February. Willaert then defeated Andrew Anderson of Cornell (Iowa) by major decision, 21-9.

The Johnnies continue head-to-head competition with two home duals this week, beginning with St. Olaf this Tuesday, Dec. 8. SJU then hosts Ridgewater on Thursday, Dec. 10. Both are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Sexton Arena in Collegeville. SJU then travels to compete at Wis.-Whitewater's Duals at the Dells this Saturday, Dec. 12. The Johnnies are scheduled to face three nationally-ranked teams: Whitewater (6:30 p.m.); Wis.-La Crosse (8 p.m.); and Heidelberg, Ohio (9:30 p.m.).
