Sophomore quarterback Joe Boyle (Richfield, Minn./Holy Angels) carried the Johnnies to a 28-21 win over Augsburg last Saturday in his second career start. Boyle was nine of 16 passing for 101 yards and a touchdown, and also ran for 47 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries. Both touchdown runs came after Augsburg turnovers in the second half. Boyle became the first Johnnie quarterback to rush for two touchdowns in the same game since Dec. 6, 2003, when Ryan Keating posted touchdown runs of one and 14 yards, respectively, against Linfield, Ore. in the NCAA Division III playoffs. Boyle currently leads SJU with four rushing touchdowns on the season.
