Saint John's University senior goalkeeper Matt Anderson (Eden Prairie, Minn.) made seven saves to record his fourth shutout of the season and improve to 3-2-2 in the Johnnies' 1-0 win at Bethel last Saturday. He made a game-saving stop, on a point-blank blast from 15 yards out, near the end of regulation. Anderson now boasts a .910 save percentage and a 0.68 GAA. His .911 save percentage and 0.66 GAA in MIAC matches rank him second and third, respectively, among conference goalkeepers.
The Johnnies’ hopeful road to the MIAC Playoffs continues next Saturday, Oct. 23, at Saint Mary’s. The match is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Winona.
SJU currently sits on the bubble (the top four teams advance) with 11 points and three conference games to play (a win counts as three points toward the MIAC standings). First-year head coach John Haws’ squad was picked to finish ninth out of 11 teams in the 2010 MIAC Preseason Coaches’ poll.
