Saint John's University junior Tony Krogen (Marshall, Minn.), last year’s medalist and MIAC Player of the Year, fired a two-under par 70 during Monday’s final round to lead the Johnnies with a three-day total of 221 (+5) and tie for third overall at the 2010 MIAC Championship. The Johnnies won their sixth MIAC title in the last seven years with a three-day total of 892 (+28). The championship clinches the Johnnies’ 12th consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Championship May 10-13 in Greensboro, N.C.
SJU will split its squad up for a pair of competitions this weekend. The junior varsity team, SJU Blue, will compete at the Twin Cities Classic, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus, this Saturday-Monday, Oct. 9-11. The varsity team, meanwhile, will travel to Greensboro, N.C., to compete at the Gordin Classic. The event is scheduled to include numerous top 10 teams and will be held at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, which is also the site for the 2011 NCAA Division III Championship this May.
