Saint John's freshman forward Brady Heppner’s (Crookston, Minn.) second goal of the game, with 24 seconds left in overtime, gave the Johnnies a 3-2 non-conference win at St. Scholastica on Saturday (Dec. 10).
He took advantage of a 2-on-1 for his first goal of the game, which tied the contest at 1-1 5:10 into the second period. Heppner’s performance was critical as SJU had to dress a defenseman at forward, and seven others at the blue line, Saturday night due to injuries.
Heppner currently leads all MIAC freshmen in goals (5) and is tied for third among freshmen in points (7).
SJU (7-4-2, 3-2-1 MIAC) return to the ice in the New Year with a 7 p.m. non-conference game against Wisconsin-River Falls on Thursday, Jan. 5, at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud.
