Saint John's University freshman Casey Vangsness (Alexandria, Minn.) helped No. 5 Saint John’s erase a one-stroke deficit to win the SJU Fall Invitational by eight on Sunday, Sept. 19, at the Blackberry Ridge G.C. in Sartell. Vangsness fired a one-under par 71 Sunday to earn medalist honors with an even-par 144 in the tournament. He currently leads SJU with a 74.8 stroke average in four rounds of play.
The Johnnies will split up for two tournaments next weekend. SJU Blue will compete this Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 25-26, at the Macalester Invitational, while the varsity squad travels further east to compete at the Wisconsin-Eau Claire Invitational Sunday and Monday.
