Burtzel averaged 12.6 points, 10.0 rebounds and six assists (3.0 assist/turnover ratio) while shooting 60.0 percent from the field in the Johnnies’ three games (2-1 record) last week. He followed Monday’s balanced performance against Macalester (seven points, six rebounds, four assists) with his second triple-double of the season with 16 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists against St. Olaf on Wednesday. He then tallied 16 points, nine rebounds and four assists in the losing effort against Concordia on Saturday.

Burtzel currently leads the MIAC (conference games only) in rebounding (10.1 rpg.), shooting percentage (.676; 94-139), assists (5.06 apg.), offensive rebounds (2.88 orpg.) and minutes played (35.88 mpg.). He is also third in steals (1.56 spg.) and fifth in scoring (14.7 ppg.).

The Johnnies (13-8, 10-6 MIAC) return to action this Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Augsburg. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Si Melby Hall in Minneapolis. SJU then returns home to host nationally-ranked St. Thomas for a 3 p.m. tip-off this Saturday, Feb. 13, at Sexton Arena.
