Saint John's junior outfielder Jack Wingerd (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) batted .583 (7-for-12) with six runs scored, two doubles and five RBI as SJU started its four-day trip to Tucson with a 3-1 record March 17-18. He also walked four times for a .647 on-base percentage from the Johnnies’ No. 2 spot in the lineup.
Wingerd has started all 13 games in left field and is batting .419 (18-for-43) with a .500 on-base percentage, 16 runs scored, 14 RBI, four doubles, two triples and two home runs so far this season.
The Johnnies (11-2 overall) take on Allegheny (Pa.) for a 10 a.m. MST doubleheader on Monday, March 19, and end their four-day trip to Tucson with a nine-inning game against Buena Vista (Iowa) at 9 a.m. MST Tuesday, March 20.
