Saint John's senior midfielder Daniel Bruckbauer (Fargo, N.D./Shanley) recorded four points, a goal and two assists on game-winning goals, as SJU was victorious in two must-win games last week to reach the MIAC Playoffs. He was named the MIAC Men's Soccer Co-Athlete of the Week Oct. 30 for his performance.
Against nationally ranked Macalester Oct. 24, he tied the game at 1-1 in the 19th minute with an acrobatic one-timer off a free kick and created the game-winning scoring play in the 2-1 win.
In Saturday's 1-0, playoff-clinching win over Carleton, Bruckbauer ran down a long service, battled a defender, turned the corner and found freshman Paul Wadsworth (Tacoma, Wash./Stadium) for the game-winning goal with 4:40 to play.
He ended the regular season tied for fourth in the MIAC (all games) in goals (7) and fifth in points (19) in 16 games played this fall.
The Johnnies (7-7-2, 4-4-2 MIAC) make their sixth consecutive appearance in the MIAC Playoffs with a 2 p.m. quarterfinal game Tuesday, Oct. 31, at Hamline (11-5-1, 6-3-1 MIAC) in St. Paul.
