Saint John's senior forward Sam Valerius (Maple Grove, Minn.) posted three points (2g/1a) in two games last week, including the game-winning tally with 2.9 seconds left in overtime of the Johnnies' 2-1 victory Jan. 11 over Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Valerius has a point in 10 of his 14 games played this season (5g/8a), including 10 (4g/6a) in his last nine contests. The 2016-17 All-MIAC first-team honoree has 57 points (23g/34a) in 75 career games, 40 (16g/24a) of which were tallied in his last 44 games going back to 2015-16.
SJU (10-4-2, 5-2-0 MIAC) returns to MIAC action with a 7 p.m. game at Hamline (5-9-1, 1-5-1 MIAC) on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at the TRIA Rink at Treasure Island Center, the Minnesota Wild's new practice facility, in downtown St. Paul.
