Saint John's senior post Tyler Weiss (Shakopee, Minn.) averaged 15 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 24.5 minutes, while shooting 73.7 percent (14-for-19) from the field as SJU (4-1, 1-0 MIAC) went 2-0 last week.
Weiss led SJU with 15 points on 7 of 9 shooting in the 110-79 non-conference win Wednesday (Nov. 29) at Minnesota-Morris. He scored 13 points in the first half and played only 16 minutes in the game.
He capped the week by becoming the 36th Johnnie to reach 1,000 career points in the Johnnies’ 79-63 win over Bethel Saturday (Dec. 2) in Collegeville. Weiss led five Johnnies in double figures with 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for his third double-double of the season and 13th of his career.
Weiss is currently third in the MIAC in both rebounding (9.0 rpg.) and shooting percentage (.667).
The Johnnies travel to face Macalester (1-4, 0-2 MIAC) for a 7 p.m. tip-off on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at the Leonard Center in St. Paul.
