Senior Jeff Nechas (Otsego, Minn./Wayzata) was named the MIAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Week April 22 after firing a 221 (+9) with rounds of 71, 77, and 73 in brutal weather conditions at the Gustavus Adolphus Bobby Krig Invitational April 20-21. Nechas was the top MIAC finisher and tied for second overall.
Nechas followed that up by leading all SJU golfers with an even-par 71, good for third overall, at the rain-shortened Saint John's Spring Invitational on Sunday, April 26. SJU finished first and second out of 17 teams.
The Johnnies return to action at the St. Olaf Invitational this Saturday and Sunday, May 2-3.
