Saint John's junior guard Patrick Strom (Fargo, N.D./Shanley) averaged 19.0 points and 6.3 rebounds, while shooting 57.1 percent (16-for-28) from the field and 53.3 percent (8-for-15) from three-point range, in three games last week.
He followed an eight-point effort in Monday’s overtime loss at Macalester with 19 points and a career-high nine rebounds in Wednesday's 65-63 win over Hamline. He had 10 points and eight boards in the first half alone.
Strom ended the regular season with a career-high 30 points on 8 of 12 shooting, including 5-for-7 from three-point range, and grabbed five rebounds in the 76-65 win at Saint Mary’s. The performance was SJU's sixth 30-point game of the season and the five treys enabled Strom to break a tie with former teammate Alex Schmitt ’16 and move into sixth on SJU’s all-time list with 155 career three-pointers.
SJU (17-8, 13-7 MIAC) hosts Hamline (14-11, 11-9 MIAC) in the MIAC Playoff quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, in Sexton Arena.
