Saint John's junior Mack Farley (Lakeville, Minn./South) tallied five birdies on the back nine to finish at even par for the third round Sunday, and even par for the tournament (214), to lead SJU with an eighth-place finish at the Johnnies' spring invitational April 23-24.
SJU (+12, 868) finished third out of 19 teams with an 868 (+12), one shot ahead of No. 6 St. Thomas and No. 19 Bethel in a tie for fourth (+13, 869). There was a stark contrast between the top five teams in the tournament and the rest of the field as Wisconsin-Stout took sixth with an 890 (+34).
Farley registered a 74.8 stroke average in 24 rounds in 2015-16 and posted four top-10 finishes, including three in the top five. He shot a combined +12 in the eight rounds this spring.
