Saint John's senior first baseman/pitcher Patrick Strey (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) batted .625 (10-for-16) with a 1.125 slugging percentage, thanks to two home runs, two doubles and 10 RBI as SJU went 4-0 last week. He was named the MIAC Baseball Player of the Week April 18 for his performance.
He gave SJU a dramatic 7-6 win in game one against Gustavus Adolphus April 16 with a two-out, three-run home run. He went 8-for-9 with two home runs, two doubles and eight RBI on the day and is batting .600 (12-for-20) with three homers, two doubles and 12 RBI over his last five games.
Strey went 8-for-12 (.667) with runners on base and a perfect 5-for-5 with two outs on the week and is batting .778 (14-for-18) with seven runs scored, five doubles, two home runs and 17 RBI in five home games this season.
He leads the MIAC (all games) in doubles (16) and total bases (74), is tied for the conference lead in RBI (38) and is second in slugging percentage (.755).
The Johnnies (19-8, 7-3 MIAC), who are now in second place in the MIAC, play host to St. Olaf (7-16, 1-7 MIAC) for a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader on Wednesday, April 20, at Saint John's Field in Collegeville.
