Saint John's senior wrestler Ryan Michaelis (Monticello, Minn.) improved to 9-1 with a pair of wins at 197 pounds over the weekend.
He earned his fifth pin of the season in the Johnnies’ 45-9 win over St. Olaf Jan. 23 and recorded a 7-2 win over the Auggies’ Matt Hechsel, who is ranked seventh by the NWCA, on Jan 25. A two-time national entrant, Michaelis is currently ranked seventh by D3wrestle.com.
The Johnnies host a pair of duals this week in Sexton Arena, beginning with a 7 p.m. bout against Ridgewater on Wednesday, Jan. 28. SJU then hosts Division II Mary (N.D.) at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31.
