Saint John’s junior wide receiver Josh Bungum (Paynesville, Minn./Paynesville Area) totaled 146 yards from scrimmage in the Johnnies’ 21-10 loss at Wartburg (Iowa) on Nov. 29 in the second round of the NCAA Division III Playoffs.
Bungum moved to the backfield, in place of injured starter Sam Sura (South St. Paul, Minn.), and gained 81 yards on 24 carries. He also caught three passes for 65 yards, including a spectacular 43-yard grab in the fourth quarter.
He led SJU’s run-oriented offense in receptions (29) and receiving yards (420), and rushed for 300 yards on 66 carries (4.5 avg.). With 155 career receptions for 1,785 yards, he needs three catches to move into fourth on the school's all-time list and is 10th in receiving yards.
