Sophomore forward Huba Sekesi (Germering, Germany) tallied four points (1g/3a) in the Johnnies' sweep at Saint Mary's last weekend, his first games back in the lineup since suffering a concussion in the 7-1 win at Bethel Jan. 23. He tallied two assists in Friday's 5-4 comeback win and added a goal and an assist in Saturday's 4-2 victory. The sweep enabled SJU to clinch a spot in the five-team MIAC Playoffs.
The four-point weekend allowed him to record the first 20-point season by a Johnnie, not named John Haeg ’15, since the 2012-2013 season. Sekesi currently leads the team in points (20) and assists (13), and is tied for second in goals (7), despite missing three games this season.
SJU (10-9-4, 8-4-2 MIAC) wraps up its regular-season schedule against league-leading Augsburg (15-6-2, 11-1-2 MIAC), beginning with a 7:05 p.m. game this Friday, Feb. 19, in Minneapolis. The Johnnies return home to host the Auggies for Senior Night at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud.
