Saint John’s sophomore linebacker Carter Hanson (Blue Earth, Minn.) registered a career-high 15 tackles (six solo) and a forced fumble in the Johnnies’ 23-14 loss to Concordia-Moorhead Sept. 20.
Down 3-0 with the Cobbers threatening in the first quarter, Hanson forced a fumble on SJU’s 19-yard line where it was recovered by junior Ryan Michaelis (Monticello, Minn.). He currently leads the team with 26 tackles (15 solo) and has 68 tackles (42 solo) in his last eight games going back to last season.
A Minnesota State All-Star in 2013, Hanson totaled 124 tackles, four fumble recoveries, three sacks and one interception for Blue Earth Area High School as it went 13-0 to claim the state’s Class 3A title in November 2012.
The Johnnies (2-1, 0-1 MIAC) travel to face No. 10 St. Thomas (2-0, 0-0 MIAC) for a 1:10 p.m. kickoff this Saturday, Sept. 27, at O'Shaughnessy Stadium in St. Paul.
