Senior forward Pat Connelly (Birchwood, Minn.) scored two third-period goals to lead Saint John’s to a 2-1 win over second-place Gustavus Adolphus last Saturday, Jan. 31 in St. Cloud. The win salvaged a weekend split with the Gusties and kept the Johnnies in contention for the MIAC Playoffs. 

Connelly ripped a wrister to the glove-side corner of the net to give SJU (6-12-1, 3-6-1 MIAC) a 1-0 lead 1:20 into the third period. Junior forward Gabriel Harren (Warroad, Minn.) was credited with an assist on the play. Connelly tallied his second goal of the game at the 4:37 mark with an assist going to senior defenseman Clayton Rehm (Park Rapids, Minn.).

Connelly currently leads SJU (6-12-1, 3-6-1 MIAC) in goals (9) and game-winning goals (2).

The Johnnies travel to face Concordia-Moorhead for two games beginning this Friday, Feb. 6 in Moorhead.
