Saint John's senior Dennis Granath (Bandhagen, Sweden/Farsta Gymnasium) improved each day (76-74-72) to finish third out of 50 golfers with a 222 (+6) at the 2012 MIAC Championship Oct. 6-8 at Bunker Hills G.C. in Coon Rapids. A Johnnie has now finished in the top three (including ties) at the MIAC Championship each of the past 15 seasons, including seven medalists. SJU is the only conference school that can stake that claim during the span since 1998.

SJU (+37, 901) finished second out of 10 teams at the tournament, 16 shots behind Gustavus Adolphus (+21, 885), thanks to Alex Kolquist's 207 (-9). GAC's other four golfers combined for a +53, the same total of all five Johnnies. The Johnnies finished 30 shots ahead of third-place St. Thomas (+67, 931), last year's conference champion.

The Johnnies wrap up the fall portion of their 2012-13 schedule at the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational this Sunday-Tuesday, Oct. 14-16, at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Miramar Beach, Fla.
