Saint John's junior Drew Schoenbauer (New Prague, Minn.) opened his outdoor season with a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash (10.99 seconds) March 29 at Saint Mary's Dingels/Brueggen Invitational in Winona. He was named the MIAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week April 3 for his performance.
He entered the final with the third-fastest time (11.02) among the 30-man field in the prelim. Schoenbauer was one of two NCAA Division III sprinters in the six-man final.
The Johnnies were scheduled to compete at the Hamline Invitational this Saturday, April 7, but the meet has been canceled. SJU is tentatively scheduled to host an invitational, and dedicate the track within Clemens Stadium in honor of former track and field head coach Tim Miles '76, at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 14, in Collegeville. The two-day SJU Decathlon is also scheduled for April 14-15.
