Saint John’s senior Sam Olson (Sioux Falls, S.D./O'Gorman) tied for fifth out of 75 golfers with a two-round total of 146 (+2) at the rain-shortened Twin Cities Classic Sept. 23-24. He posted Sunday’s best round, a 2-under par 70, at the Links at Northfork in Ramsey.
Despite being six shots behind Manitoba (+5, 581) in second place, SJU (+11, 587) earned credit for the tournament win in the eyes of Golfstat and NCAA Division III because the Bison are not members of the NCAA.
Olson, last year’s medalist, and the rest of the Johnnies aim to defend their conference title at the three-day 2017 MIAC Championship this Saturday-Monday, Sept. 30-Oct. 2, at the Ridges at Sand Creek (par 72) in Jordan. Saturday's opening round is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start.
