Saint John's senior senior Ryan Bugler (Okinawa, Japan/Kubasaki) finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at Hillsdale College's Gina Relays April 28 in Hillsdale, Mich. He was named the MIAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week May 2 for his performance.
The time of 9:04.84 was the second-fastest in NCAA Division III this season but has since slipped to third due to the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championships held April 29.
The reigning NCAA Division III outdoor champion in the steeplechase, Bugler shaved 10.10 seconds off his first race of the season (9:16.94) in the event recorded April 21 in La Crosse, Wis.
The Johnnies compete at the annual Meet of Saints, hosted by St. Olaf, at noon this Saturday, May 6, at Manitou Field in Northfield.
