Saint John's freshman outfielder Wyatt Ulrich (Indus, Minn./International) batted .516 (16-for-31) with eight runs scored and five RBI as SJU went 6-1 last week. He extended his hit streak to 21 games with a 4-for-5 performance in the 6-4 win over No. 22 St. Scholastica April 23, his third four-hit game of the season. Ulrich earned his third MIAC Baseball Player of the Week April 24 for his performance.
On the week, Ulrich batted .556 (10-for-18) with the bases empty, .643 (9-for-14) as the first batter of an inning and .667 (4-for-6) with two outs.
He is now batting .538 (49-for-91) with 30 runs scored and 20 RBI on the year and leads the MIAC in both categories (29 hits and 20 runs scored) in conference play. The leadoff hitter is also tied for fourth with 14 RBI in 14 conference games.
The Johnnies (22-8, 11-3 MIAC) return to MIAC action with a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader at St. Thomas (18-11, 10-2 MIAC) on Wednesday, April 26, in St. Paul (rescheduled from Tuesday, April 25, due to the weather forecast).
