Saint John's freshman quarterback Jackson Erdmann (Rosemount, Minn.) ended the day 17 of 20 passing for 259 yards and five touchdowns in the Johnnies’ 40-17 win at Buena Vista (Iowa) last Saturday, Sept. 10. He also rushed for 24 yards on three carries.
The five passing touchdowns and .850 completion percentage were both SJU freshman records. The five-touchdown performance was the first by a Johnnie quarterback since Alex Kofoed net five on Oct. 13, 2007, at Gustavus Adolphus. The single-game .850 completion percentage was also the second-best in program history (among those with 20 pass attempts or more).
Erdmann has a 230.5 pass-efficiency rating, .738 completion percentage (31 of 42), and 469 yards passing with eight touchdowns and no interceptions in his first two collegiate games.
The eighth-ranked Johnnies (2-0 overall) play host to St. Olaf (1-1 overall) for Homecoming this Saturday, Sept. 17. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Clemens Stadium in Collegeville.
