Saint John's junior pitcher Alex Kendall (St. Cloud, Minn./Saint John's Prep)
Kendall went 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA and a .189 opponent batting average in two starts (15 innings) as SJU (11-5 overall) went 8-2 in Fort Myers last week. He was named the MIAC Pitcher of the Week March 28 for his performance.
He threw a complete-game shutout of St. Lawrence (N.Y.) March 21, scattering four hits with six strikeouts in nine innings of work. Kendall improved to 2-1 on the year with the 6-3 victory over Millikin (Ill.) March 25 in the trip's finale. He allowed only one two-out hit during the trip (1-for-15) and two hits with runners on base (.105, 2-for-19).
Kendall currently touts a 1.69 ERA and a .210 opponent batting average in four appearances/three starts (21.1 innings) so far this season, as well as 19 strikeouts to only one walk.
The Johnnies play host to Minnesota-Morris for a nine-inning, non-conference game at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, at Saint John's Field in Collegeville.
