Junior Mogi Baatar (25-7 record at 133; Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia/St. Benedict’s, N.J.) earned his third consecutive national appearance with the 133-pound title at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional last Saturday, Feb. 21, in Mequon, Wis.
Baatar, ranked No. 9 nationally, posted a first-round pin before posting 8-2 and 5-1 decisions to earn a trip to the championship match. Baatar then defeated Augsburg's Travis Lang, ranked No. 1 in the nation, 9-5 to claim the title.
SJU has now qualified two or more wrestlers to the NCAA Championships 19 of the last 20 seasons.
The 2009 NCAA Division III Championships will be held Saturday-Sunday, March 7-8, at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
