Junior guard Mitchell Kuck (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) shot 54.5 percent (18-for-33) from the field, including 52.9 percent (9-for-17) from three-point range, and averaged 19.3 points and three assists per game as the Johnnies went 2-1 last week (Jan. 12-19).
Kuck posted a pair of 20-point games and collected a 4.5 assist/turnover ratio on the week. He tallied 21 points in the 93-74 win over Saint Mary’s Jan. 14 and made 10 of his 12 shots for a 27-point performance in the 92-75 win against Augsburg Jan. 19. He, like a majority of the team, struggled in the 69-59 loss at Gustavus Adolphus Jan. 17 and totaled 10 points.
He is currently third in the MIAC in both scoring (16.0 ppg.) and free throws made (50), is tied for fifth in steals (22) and tied for sixth in assists (45).
SJU (8-6, 6-3 MIAC) plays host to Macalester for a 7 p.m. game, its final weeknight contest at home during the regular season, on Wednesday, Jan. 21, in Sexton Arena.
