Sophomore wide receiver Josh Bungum (Paynesville, Minn.) caught a career-high 12 passes for 104 yards in the 20-18 win over then-No. 2 St. Thomas last Saturday in St. Paul. He now has 21 receptions for 209 yards, with no touchdowns, in two career games against UST. Although four receptions resulted in first downs, Bungum also registered three catches for nine yards each.
He currently leads the MIAC in receptions (27) and receiving yards (325), and is tied for 11th in all of NCAA Division III with an average of nine receptions per game. The 12 catches last Saturday are tied for ninth-most by a Johnnie in a game.
The Johnnies (3-0, 1-0 MIAC), now ranked No. 21 nationally in the latest American Football Coaches' Association (AFCA) and D3football.com polls, play host to Concordia-Moorhead (3-0, 1-0 MIAC) for Homecoming this Saturday, Sept. 28. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Clemens Stadium in Collegeville.
