Saint John's University senior wide receiver Brent Graboski (Woodbury, Minn.) caught five passes for 216 yards (43.2 avg.) and two touchdowns in the 47-14 win over Carleton last Saturday in Collegeville. The Johnnies posted season highs in points (47), passing yardage (371) and total offense (495) against a Carleton defense that entered the game allowing just 127.6 yards passing and 301.3 total yards per contest.
Graboski's first catch of the game was a 52-yard gain on third-and-nine. He then grabbed a pass for a 19-yard gain before breaking loose for 44 yards on third-and-seven. Graboski caught a pair of touchdowns, on consecutive offensive plays, from 70 and 31 yards out in the third quarter. Graboski missed the SJU record for single-game receiving yardage by 10 yards (226 by Rick Bell vs. St. Cloud State in 1982) and was one yard shy of the school record for a wide receiver (217 by Adam Herbst vs. St. Thomas in 1997). He was named the MIAC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance.
SJU (4-4, 3-3 MIAC) plays host to nationally-ranked St. Olaf (7-1, 5-1 MIAC) for its home finale this Saturday, Nov. 5. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Clemens Stadium in Collegeville.
