Saint John’s senior shortstop Matt Butorac (Maple Grove, Minn.) recorded six extra-base hits in six MIAC games last week, including five doubles, to pass Jed Riegelman (2001-04) for the SJU record 38 career doubles (the record was 34).

Thirteen of his 17 hits this season have been for extra bases. Last week, he led or tied with the team-lead in runs (4), hits (6), RBI (4) and total bases (13). 

Butorac enters this Saturday’s MIAC doubleheader against Carleton tied with senior catcher Brian Skluzacek (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori) for ninth in school history with 66 career RBI.
