Saint John's University junior Danny Kuhn (Alexandria, Minn.) allowed one run on four hits while striking out 18 with no walks in 11 innings en route to a 2-0 record and a 0.82 ERA last week in Ft. Myers, Fla. Opponents managed a .108 batting average against Kuhn in his two appearances. He was named the MIAC Pitcher of the Week March 12 for his performance.
He retired the first 11 batters he faced in the season-opening 17-2 win March 5 over Finlandia (Mich.) and bounced back on two days rest to pitch six scoreless innings, allowing two hits with eight strikeouts, in a 4-0 victory March 8 over Defiance (Ohio).
Opponents batted .125 (1-for-8) with runners on base and .103 (3-for-29) with the bases empty off Kuhn on the trip. Lefties were 0-for-6 against the right-handed junior, who made two varsity appearances in 2017.
The Johnnies (8-1 overall) travel to Tucson, Ariz., next weekend for seven games in four days (March 17-20).
