Saint John's junior forward Dan Voce (Princeton, Minn.) tallied three points (2g/1a), his first of the season, as the Johnnies went 1-1 over the weekend in Wisconsin.
He tied the game at one with his first goal of the season 6:30 into the third period of the Johnnies’ 3-1 loss at nationally-ranked Wisconsin-River Falls last Friday (Jan. 8). The game was much closer than the score appears. Junior forward Kevin Becker (Roseville, Minn.) hit the pipe minutes later, but the Falcons scored what proved to be the game-winning goal after they intercepted an SJU pass behind the net and lit the lamp with 5:10 remaining. UWRF added an empty-net goal with 44 seconds left.
Voce then had a hand in a pair of SJU’s goals as the visitors jumped out to a 2-0 lead 5:26 into the 3-2 win at Wisconsin-Superior the following day.
SJU (5-8-2, 3-3-0 MIAC) returns to conference play with a 7 p.m. game against St. Olaf this Friday, Jan. 15, at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud. SJU wraps up the series with a 7:30 p.m. game on Saturday, Jan. 16, in Northfield.
