A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: Saint John's finished second out of 14 teams, three shots from the lead, last weekend (Sept. 26-27) at its fall invitational. Bethel won the tournament with a two-round total of 586 (+10), followed by SJU (+13, 589), Concordia-Moorhead (+22, 598) and Wisconsin-Eau Claire (+24, 600). SJU Blue tied with the Royals' second team and Manitoba for seventh at 605 (+29).
Senior
Nate Appelhof (Blaine, Minn./Totino-Grace) went -2 over his final seven holes to post a 73 (+1) and finish fourth out of 87 golfers with a two-day score of 144 (E).
Freshman
William Andrus (St. George, Utah/Homeschool) bogeyed his first two holes of the morning and bounced back with a -1 the rest of the way for a 73 (+1). He tied for eighth overall with a 146 (+2).
Junior
Gavin Grahek (Maple Grove, Minn.) was the third Johnnie on the varsity team with a 73 (+1) Sunday thanks to 14 pars and tied for 15th at 149 (+5).
Sophomore
Austin Roloff (Minneapolis, Minn./Spring Lake Park) carded a 74 (+2) Sunday and tied for 22nd with a 150 (+6). He finished second in the tournament with a collective -1 on the par-4 holes.
Sophomore
Luke Ehmke (Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge) rounded out the Johnnies' five with a 76 (+4) – which tied for the final round's best drop score – and tied for 35th at 153 (+9).
Sophomore
Braxton Berlin (Lake City, Minn.) led SJU Blue Sunday with a 1-over par 73 and tied for 15th overall at 149 (+5). He led the tournament in both birdies (10) and on the par-5 holes (-6). Classmate
Collin Fogarty (Pine Island, Minn.) had the fivesome's best finish – 14th – at 148 +4) and junior
Marty Timmons (Brainerd, Minn.) tied for 24th (+7, 151).
Junior
Dylan Willette (Eden Prairie, Minn.) led SJU White, which finished 13th (+44, 620), with a 154 (+10) to tie for 38th.
Freshman
Matthew Heymans (Mendota Heights, Minn./Two Rivers) led the Johnnies' 19-man contingent Sunday with a 1-under par 71. He tied for 35th overall as an individual with a 153 (+9).
WHO WILL BE THERE: The Johnnies and host Gusties are scheduled to be joined this weekend by Augsburg, Bethel, Carleton, Concordia-Moorhead, Grinnell (Iowa), Luther (Iowa), Nebraska Wesleyan, St. Olaf, St. Scholastica and Wisconsin-Superior.

LAST YEAR'S TOURNEY: SJU finished third out of 16 teams at last year's Twin Cities Classic. The Gusties won the tournament with a three-round total of 882 (+30), 15 shots ahead of Bethel in second at 897 (+45). SJU led five teams that were separated by a single shot in third (+52, 904). Carleton was fourth (+53, 905), followed by Nebraska Wesleyan (+54, 906); Concordia-Moorhead (+55, 907); and Lake Forest (+56, 908).
SJU led the tournament on the par-5 holes (-21, second place was Nebraska Wesleyan at -8); birdies (42); and eagles (5).
Grahek tied for third out of 85 golfers with a 218 (+5). He posted his second-straight, even-par round thanks to four birdies and an eagle on the par-5 No. 10 (493 yards) during the final round. Grahek led the tournament with 12 birdies and went -9 on the par-5 holes.
Appelhof led SJU's contingent of 10 on the final day with a 1-under par 72 to climb 14 spots to 21st overall at 227 (+14). He, like Grahek, birdied four holes and tallied an eagle – the par-5 No. 5 (549 yards). Appelhof led the tourney with three eagles over the three days.
Roloff carded four birdies for a 77 (+4) and placed 33rd (+18, 231), while
Ethan Kress '26 claimed 38th (+19, 232).
Tim Fultz '26 posted a 3-over par 76 and took 47th (+22, 235).
Gus Briguet '26 led SJU Blue, which finished 11th at 925 (+73), in seventh place at 223 (+10). He collected four birdies for a 75 (+2) Monday. Timmons led Blue with an even-par 73 and tied Roloff in 33rd (+18, 231).
