Hole-by-Hole Scoring
LE SUEUR, Minn. – Saint John's golf finished sixth of 16 teams at Gustavus Adolphus' Bobby Krig Invitational on Sunday, April 19, at Le Sueur C.C. (par 71).
No. 23 Gustavus won its home tournament with a three-round total of 871 (+19). The Gusties shot the best round of the tournament in round two with a 286 (+2) and finished the day with a 289 (+5) in round three. GAC was followed by Bethel (+34/886) in second, Wisconsin-Eau Claire (+36/888), a tie between Carleton (+38/890) and St. Olaf (+38/890) and the Johnnies.
SJU shot 909 (310-300-299) for the tournament and SJU Blue finished eighth with a 923 (310-303-310).
Senior
Tim Fultz (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) made the largest jump of the day Sunday, rocketing into a tie for 20th out of 97 golfers with classmate
Ethan Kress (Woodbury, Minn.). Fultz finished 12-over par, posting a round-two 76 (+5) and a round-three 72 (+1) to lead SJU. Fultz played a clean third round, matching four bogeys with three birdies.
Kress hit a 75 in round two with a pair of birdies and nine pars and shot even or better for 13-consecutive holes for a 73 in round three.
Junior
Nate Appelhof (Blaine, Minn./Totino-Grace) carded a pair of Sunday eagles en route to 28th and a 15-over 228. He was one of 12 players over the weekend to shoot two-under on a hole and the only to do it twice.
Sophomore
Gavin Grahek (Maple Grove, Minn.) shot par on all but three holes in round two for a 75. He birdied three times in round three but hit six bogeys and three doubles for a 78 and 36th overall.
Freshman
Lukas Ehmke (Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge) rounded out SJU's top team in 63rd with a three-round total of 240 (83-78-79). Ehmke carded five birdies on Sunday but also hit bogey on nine occasions and doubled five times.
Freshman
Braxton Berlin (Lake City, Minn.) led SJU Blue in 20th alongside Fultz and Kress. Berlin hit a one-over par 72 in round two and two-over 74 in the final round with six total birdies.
Freshman
Austin Roloff (Minneapolis, Minn./Spring Lake Park) finished 26th with a 74 and 75 Sunday, followed by sophomore
Connor O'Hara (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) in 50th, sophomore
Marty Timmons (Brainerd, Minn.) in 59th and sophomore
Mac Drake (Sioux Falls, S.D./O'Gorman) in 63rd.
The Johnnies return home to host the annual SJU Spring Invitational next Saturday (Wapicada G.C. in St. Cloud) and Sunday (Monticello C.C. in Monticello), April 25-26.
