GCAA Release

NORMAN, Okla. – Three Saint John's University golf student-athletes – Tim Fultz '26 (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area), rising junior Gavin Grahek (Maple Grove, Minn.) and Ethan Kress '26 (Woodbury, Minn.) – earned Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honors, presented by the Golf Coaches' Association of America (GCAA), for the 2025-26 season on Monday, Aug. 3.

To be eligible for the All-America Scholar award, student-athletes must be either sophomore, junior or senior with a season scoring average under 79.0, a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher and have participated in 50 percent or more of the team's varsity events/rounds during the 2025-26 season. 

The SJU golf program has now had an All-America Scholar each of the past 27 years, for a total of 56 during that span. The achievement is the second in a row for Fultz and Kress.

Fultz and Grahek were named to the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District at-large team in June. The honor was the second for Fultz and first for Grahek.

Fultz graduated in May with a 3.63 GPA in global business leadership. He was the 2024-25 MIAC Elite 22 Award recipient in golf for having the highest cumulative GPA among the student-athletes who finished in the top 10 at the MIAC Championships in October 2024. Fultz earned All-MIAC honors in 2024 with a fourth-place finish at the MIAC Championships and was a two-time MIAC athlete of the week. He finished third out of 119 golfers with a 140 (-4) at the SJU Fall Invitational and ended his career with a 76.3 scoring average in 65 rounds, including two tournament wins.

An accounting major with a 3.51 GPA, Grahek earned GCAA All-Region honors in his sophomore season after finishing with All-MIAC honorable mention laurels despite posting a better national ranking (No. 105) than four of the five MIAC at-large selections. He led SJU in scoring average (74.4 in 25 rounds), rounds at par or better (5), top-five finishes (2) and top-10 finishes (4) in 2025-26. Grahek's scoring average was good for 12th in the MIAC. Grahek took first out of 120 golfers at the Wisconsin-Eau Claire Invitational and finished seventh among 11 nationally ranked teams at Carnegie Mellon's Tartan Invitational in October. He is currently 12th in program history with a 74.7 average in 49 career rounds.

An exercise and health science major, Kress finished second on the team with a 75.7 scoring average in 21 rounds this season. The 2024-25 All-MIAC honoree ended his career with a 76.1 average in 69 rounds, including 12 that were par or better. His 66 (-6) during the first round of SJU's 2024 Fall Invitational at St. Cloud C.C. is tied for the second-best round in SJU history.

The Johnnie golf team finished sixth out of nine teams at the 2025 MIAC Championships in 2025-26.

The Johnnies report to campus Aug. 19 and begin the 2026-27 season – and era of new head coach Casey Vangsness '14 – Sept. 13-14 at Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Wrigglesworth Blugold Invitational (Eau Claire C.C.).
