Round 1 Results
NEW PRAGUE, Minn. – Both Saint John's golf teams are tied for ninth out of 16 teams following the opening round of Gustavus Adolphus' Bobby Krig Invitational held on a windy Saturday, April 18, at New Prague G.C. (par 71).
The host Gusties – ranked No. 23 nationally – lead the field with a 296 (+12), followed by Wisconsin-Eau Claire (+14/298), St. Olaf (+16/300) and Bethel (+18/302). SJU and SJU Red are in ninth place with a 310 (+26) each, one shot from seventh and six strokes from Bethel's second team in fifth (+20/304).
Seniors
Tim Fultz (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) and
Ethan Kress (Woodbury, Minn.) led SJU with a 77 (+6) each to sit in a tie for 28th out of 97 golfers. Fultz led the Johnnies with four birdies on the day.
Junior
Nate Appelhof (Blaine, Minn./Totino-Grace) and sophomore
Gavin Grahek (Maple Grove, Minn.) are tied for 35th with a 78 (+7) apiece.
Sophomore
Connor O'Hara (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) led the 10 Johnnies Saturday with a 4-over par 75 and is 11th overall.
Freshman
Austin Roloff (Minneapolis, Minn./Spring Lake Park) and sophomore
Marty Timmons (Brainerd, Minn.) are tied with Appelhof and Grahek at 78 (+7).
The tournament's final day of competition – 36 holes – begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday, April 19, at Le Sueur C.C. (par 71).
