D3football.com Poll – Week 5
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Saint John's University received its first first-place vote since 2022 and jumped two spots to No. 3 in today's (Sunday, Oct. 4) D3football.com Top 25 poll.
Six teams in NCAA Region 6 were ranked in the top 25, including four in the top six: SJU (No. 3), Wisconsin-Platteville (No. 4), Wisconsin-Whitewater (No. 5), Wisconsin-River Falls (No. 6), Bethel (No. 16) and Wisconsin-La Crosse (No. 18). Linfield (41), Chapman (27) and Whitworth (1) received votes.
Senior quarterback
Trey Feeney (Moorhead, Minn.) completed his first 15 passes and finished 38 of 43 passing for 355 yards and six touchdowns to lead SJU to a 42-16 win over then-No. 7 Bethel yesterday (Oct. 3) in front of 13,661 spectators in Collegeville. The Johnnies recorded six sacks, including three in the first half from junior defensive end
Charlie King (Faribault, Minn./Bethlehem Academy), and held the Royals to six of 17 on third down in a game that was delayed 90 minutes due to lightning.
Senior wide receiver
Thomas Jacobs (Lakeland, Minn./Stillwater Area) caught seven of Feeney's passes for 82 yards and three touchdowns, while senior running back
Corey Bohmert (Mahtomedi, Minn.) totaled 111 yards from scrimmage (54 yards on 13 carries and 57 yards with a touchdown on 10 catches).
SJU (4-0, 3-0 MIAC) visits Macalester (3-1, 2-1 MIAC) at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Macalester Stadium in St. Paul.
