BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. – Saint John's golf is tied for fifth after the first round of the 2026 MIAC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Edinburgh G.C. (par 72).

The Johnnies shot a 25-over par 313 to tie with Macalester. SJU is one shot behind St. Olaf in fourth (312, +24), five shots behind Carleton in third (308, +20), 10 shots behind Concordia in second (303, +15) and 11 shots behind day-one leader Bethel in first (302, +14).

The Johnnies begin the second round Sunday at 11:12 a.m.

Senior Nate Appelhof (Blaine, Minn./Totino-Grace) leads SJU through day one in seventh out of 45 golfers after carding a 3-over par 75 on Saturday. Appelhof birdied his first hole of the day and recovered from a bogey and double on his next two for another birdie on hole five. He added three more before the end of the round, including a two-shot birdie on hole No. 16.

Sophomore Austin Roloff (Minneapolis, Minn./Spring Lake Park) is tied for 10th after recording 13 pars – including all five of his first holes – for a day-one 77. Roloff had just one birdie on the day and was 1-over par until his last two holes. He is tied with Macalester's Riahn Singh for the most pars in the tournament thus far.

Junior Gavin Grahek (Maple Grove, Minn.) started the day as the only player in the field to shoot an eagle on hole No. 1 (par 5). He followed with four consecutive pars but bogeyed three times before the turn. He was 8-over par on his back nine to finish in a tie for 18th with a 7-over 79.

Sophomore Luke Ehmke (Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge) is tied for 32nd with a 10-over 82. Ehmke birdied three times but doubled twice and tripled once.

Freshman William Andrus (St. George, Utah/Homeschool) is tied for 35th and one shot behind Ehmke with an 83.
