ORLANDO, Fla. – Saint John's tennis ended its spring-break trip with a 7-0 win over Crown on Friday, March 21, at the USTA National Campus.
SJU (4-4 overall) won both doubles matches played with a 6-0 score and took nine of the 10 singles sets with two points allowed or less as the Polars (1-10 overall) forfeited the bouts at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
Freshman
Cole Haabala (Alexandria, Minn.) and sophomore
Sam Wolden (St. Louis Park, Minn.) teamed up for the win at the top doubles spot, while junior
Finn Dolezal (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./East Ridge) and freshman
Andrew Eckmann (Eagan, Minn./Two Rivers) picked up the victory at No. 2. Eckmann also collected his first dual win at No. 5 singles and Dolezal registered the forfeit at No. 6.
Senior
Cooper Anderson (St. Paul, Minn./White Bear Lake), junior
Taylor Duncan (Benson, Minn.), junior
Josh Peterson (Perham, Minn.) and sophomore
Alex Draeger (Litchfield, Minn.) all bumped up two spots from their usual singles slots to collect wins at Nos. 1-4, respectively. The victory was the 10th for Draeger (10-1 record) and the sixth for both Anderson (6-6) and Peterson (6-2).
SJU returns to MIAC action by hosting Bethel at 3 p.m. next Saturday, March 29, at Sta-Fit in Sartell.
