ITA Release
TEMPE, Ariz. – The 2026 Saint John's University tennis team and eight Johnnie student-athletes collected academic honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Wednesday, July 15.
To be eligible for the ITA All-Academic Team Award, an institution must submit the academic year's grade-point averages for each student-athlete on the roster and carry a team GPA of 3.2 or higher.
The 10 Johnnies combined for a 3.63 GPA in 2025-26.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a student-athlete must have a grade-point average of 3.50 or better for the current academic year.
The Johnnies recognized were (alphabetically, academic years are for 2025-26):
-Senior
Finn Dolezal (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./East Ridge), an economics major;
-Junior
Alex Draeger (Litchfield, Minn.), a computer science major;
-Senior
Taylor Duncan (Benson, Minn.), a global business leadership major;
-Sophomore
Andrew Eckmann (Eagan, Minn./Two Rivers), a biology major;
-Freshman
Jack Gangl (Elk River, Minn.), a biochemistry major;
-Sophomore
Cole Haabala (Alexandria, Minn.), a global business leadership major;
-Senior
Josh Peterson (Perham, Minn.), a global business leadership major;
-Freshman
Nam Tran (Shakopee, Minn./Eden Prairie), a computer science major.
The Johnnies finished eighth in the MIAC with a 1-8 record (2-12 overall) in 2026.
