MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Saint John's swimming wrapped up Division I Minnesota's two-day First Chance Meet on Saturday, Feb. 8.
Senior
Jack West (Otsego, Minn./Elk River) finished ninth in the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:37.85) and 21st in the 500-yard freestyle (5:17.68), while sophomore
Brennan Close (Princeton, Minn.) was ninth in the 400-yard individual medley (4:37.68), 14th in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.13) and led SJU in the 100-yard breaststroke in 22nd (1:03.82).
Juniors
Andrew Roggeman (St. Cloud, Minn./Tech) and
Cameron Schreifels (Sartell, Minn./Sartell-St. Stephen) touched the wall ninth (2:11.37) and 10th (2:12.00), respectively, in the 200-yard backstroke. Roggeman was also 11th in the 100-yard backstroke (56.03) and 20th in the 200-yard individual medley (2:08.38).
Junior
Carsten Reuter (St. Cloud, Minn./Tech) took 12th overall and fifth among Division III swimmers in the 100-yard butterfly (52.80) and senior
Jake Tschida (Mendota Heights, Minn./Henry Sibley) was 12th in the 200-yard butterfly (2:10.63). Senior Zac Ruoff (Melrose, Minn./Melrose Area) claimed 25th out of 70 swimmers in the 50-yard freestyle (22.32).
The Johnnies return to the Jean Freeman Aquatic Center for the 2025 MIAC Championships on Wednesday-Saturday, Feb. 19-22. The meet begins with the men's 1-meter dive prelims at 6 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a finals session at 7:30 p.m. The final three days all begin with prelims at 10:30 a.m. and finals sessions at 6:30 p.m.
