MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Saint John's swimming and diving finished second out of six teams at the 2025 MIAC Championships on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the University of Minnesota's Jean Freeman Aquatic Center.

Gustavus Adolphus won its sixth-consecutive team title with 879 points, followed by SJU (712), Carleton (553), Macalester (462.5), St. Olaf (438.5) and Hamline (182).

Junior Brayden Slavik (Green Isle, Minn./Chaska) won his second-consecutive title in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a meet-, SJU- and MIAC-record time of 15:32.98. The previous record of 15:36.96 was set by Gustavus' Whitaker Davis in 2011. Slavik's record time Saturday night cleared the NCAA B cut by nearly 18 seconds (15:50.88) and was 10 seconds faster than the invited time from last year's NCAA Championships (15:43.03).

Senior Connor Thayer (Prior Lake, Minn.) followed Slavik in fourth, 0:00.66 from third place and All-MIAC honors (top-three), with a time of 16:59.93. Sophomores Trevor Barton (Buffalo, Minn.) and Brennan Close (Princeton, Minn.) were fifth (17:09.13) and 11th (18:58.09), respectively.

Senior Carter Larson (Sartell, Minn./Sartell-St. Stephen) defended his conference title in the 100-yard freestyle with a win in 45.50 seconds. Junior Carsten Reuter (St. Cloud, Minn./Tech), the MIAC champion in Thursday night's 50-yard freestyle, collected another All-MIAC distinction in third place (45.70). Seniors Colby Kern (Delano, Minn.) and Liam Noble (Plymouth, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's) followed in fourth (46.53) and eighth (46.74), respectively.

The Johnnies' 400-yard freestyle relay (Reuter, Larson, Noble, Kern) claimed first place with a program-record time of 3:03.22, which topped its previous mark of 3:04.46 set in 2015, SJU's last MIAC championship in the event. The win completed SJU's first sweep of the three freestyle relays in program history.

Junior Clay Megaw (Monticello, Minn.) won the 200-yard breaststroke's consolation final with a time of 2:10.58 and freshman Jason Jones (Monticello, Minn.) was right behind him in 10th (2:12.99). Close was an alternate following this morning's prelims, entered the race due to a scratch and finished 14th (2:20.56).

Senior Langston Philion (Maple Grove, Minn.) claimed 10th in the 200-yard butterfly (1:57.84) and three Johnnies competed in the 200-yard backstroke's B final: freshman Riley Yerks (Hutchinson, Minn.) in 11th (2:02.59), junior Andrew Roggeman (St. Cloud, Minn./Tech) in 12th (2:02.66) and junior Cameron Schreifels (Sartell, Minn./Sartell-St. Stephen) in 15th (2:07.08).
