Hole-by-Hole Scoring
NORMAL, Ill. – Senior
Nate Loxtercamp (Richmond, Minn./Melrose Area) took first place out of 214 golfers as No. 10/12 Saint John's golf tied for fourth out of 37 teams at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday, April 6, at Division I Illinois State's Weibring G.C. (par 71).
Loxtercamp carded five birdies for a 3-under par 68 – his team-leading seventh round at par or under this season – and earned medalist honors by one shot with a two-round total of 140 (-3). He led the tournament with a -6 on the seven par-5 holes over the two days. The win was the first of the season and third career for Loxtercamp, who leads SJU with a 72.7 average in 18 rounds this season.
The individual win was the Johnnies' second-consecutive at the IWU Invitational as
Thomas Gutzmer '23 claimed first thanks to six birdies at Weibring G.C. to win the field by four shots with a 139 (-4) in April 2023.
No. 4 Illinois Wesleyan won the tournament by 24 shots with a two-round total of 568 (-4). No. 8/12 Bethel was second (+20, 592), followed by the Titans' second team (+24, 596) and the four-way tie between SJU, No. 10/11 Aurora (Ill.), Hope (Mich.) and No. 21/22 Wisconsin-Eau Claire at 598 (+26). The Johnnies totaled 12 birdies on the day but three bogeyed their final hole.

Sam Berger (Waconia, Minn.) posted a 76 (+5) to tie for 44th with a 152 (+9) and junior
Andrew Boemer (Eagan, Minn./St. Thomas Academy) tied for 58th (+10, 153) with a 75 (+4).

Blake Schuler (Waconia, Minn.) recorded SJU's second-best score Saturday with a 74 (+3) and tied for 111th (+15, 158). Senior
Mark Longhenry (Bloomington, Minn./Holy Angels) rounded out the Johnnies' five in a tie for 121st with a 159 (+16).
A pair of Johnnies, freshman
Nate Appelhof (Blaine, Minn./Totino-Grace) and sophomore
Ethan Kress (Woodbury, Minn.), played as individuals in the tournament. Appelhof posted a final-round score of 78 (+7) to tie for 72nd (+11, 154) and Kress tied for 135th (+18, 161).
SJU returns to the course in two weeks – April 20-21 – at the Gustavus Adolphus Invitational.
