COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Saint John's University cross country team and senior Lloyd Young (Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) received U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic recognition on Thursday, Feb. 1.

A total of 194 men's programs earned the Division III team honor. To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must record a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or better. Thirty-three Johnnies combined for a cumulative team GPA of 3.69.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

An accounting major with a 3.94 GPA, Young led SJU with his third All-MIAC honor (top 15) in eighth place out of 177 runners with a time of 24:58 at the MIAC Championships on Oct. 28. He then earned his third-consecutive All-Region honor (top 35 individually) two weeks later with a 16th-place finish in 24:51, which was two seconds faster than last year when he placed 10th. Young ended his collegiate career by finishing 249th out of 294 runners at the 2023 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships – his third trip to nationals – in Pennsylvania.

As a team, finished fourth out of 11 teams at the MIAC Championship and 15th out of 34 teams at the rugged NCAA Regional this fall.
