Hole-by-Hole Scoring
BOULDER CITY, Nev. – No. 7 Saint John's golf finished 13 out of 18 teams at the elite NCAA Division III Preview on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at Boulder Creek G.C. (par 72).
Twelve of the tournament's 18 teams are nationally ranked. Top-ranked Methodist (N.C.) fired a 22-under par 266 to win the tourney by 25 shots with a three-day total of 850 (-14). t-No. 3 Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) was second at 875 (+11), followed by a tie between No. 2 Emory (Ga.) and No. 16 Washington & Lee (Va.) in third at 876 (+12).
SJU recorded 21 birdies and two eagles on the day to close with a three-round score of 902 (+38), one shot behind No. 11 Wittenberg (Ohio) in 12th (+37, 902). The Johnnies tied for fourth with 47 birdies in the tournament.
Senior
Mark Longhenry (Bloomington, Minn./Holy Angels) led SJU with six birdies Monday for a 2-under par 70. He tied for 16th out of 90 golfers with a three-day total of 220 (+4).
Senior
Nate Loxtercamp (Richmond, Minn./Melrose Area) tallied three birdies and an eagle to match Longhenry with a 2-under par 70. He tied for 41st with a 226 (+10) and ended the fall schedule with a team-best 73.0 average in 16 rounds.
Junior
Andrew Boemer (Eagan, Minn./St. Thomas Academy) countered a triple bogey on his first hole with five birdies and an eagle to tally a 1-over par 73. He tied for 68th with a 232 (+16).
Senior
Sam Berger (Waconia, Minn.) matched Boemer's five birdies and collected a 3-over par 75. He tied for 53rd with a 229 (+13), while senior
Blake Schuler (Waconia, Minn.) placed 78th with a 237 (+21). Schuler carded a 3-over par 75 Tuesday.
