Hole-by-Hole Results
MAPLE GROVE, Minn. – No. 11 Saint John's golf finished second out of nine teams at the 2023 MIAC Championships on Monday, Oct. 2, at Rush Creek G.C. (par 72).
Bethel entered Monday's final round with a nine-shot lead over SJU and carded the day's best round – a 3-over par 291 – to win its second MIAC title in program history with a three-round total of 858 (-6). SJU posted a 7-over par 295 Monday to finish with an 871 (+7), 13 shots from Bethel and 28 shots ahead of Concordia-Moorhead in third (+35, 899). Gustavus Adolphus was fourth at 902 (+38).
Three Johnnies earned All-MIAC honors (top-10 individually, including ties), led by senior
Sam Berger (Waconia, Minn.) in fourth out of 45 golfers with a three-day total of 214 (-2). He totaled five birdies and overcame a triple-bogey on the par-3 No. 7 to finish with a 1-over par 73. Berger became the first Johnnie in program history to finish fifth or better, let alone fourth, in four MIAC Championship tournaments.
Junior
Andrew Boemer (Eagan, Minn./St. Thomas Academy) led the Johnnies Monday with a 1-under par 71 – his team-best fifth round at par or better out of 10 this fall – and tied for sixth with a 218 (+2). He collected four birdies, including two on his final three holes, and leads SJU with a 72.5 scoring average so far this season.
Senior
Nate Loxtercamp (Richmond, Minn./Melrose Area) collected his third All-MIAC honor with a 222 (+6) to claim 10th. He posted his second even-par round of the tournament Monday.
Senior
Blake Schuler (Waconia, Minn.) tied for 13th (+8, 224) and classmate
Mark Longhenry (Bloomington, Minn./Holy Angels) tied for 19th (+13, 229).
The Johnnies return to competition in two weeks at the prestigious Golfweek October Classic on Oct. 15-17 at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort in Destin, Fla.
