COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Saint John's senior right fielder
Soren Roe (Golden Valley, Minn./Blake) was named the MIAC Baseball Player of the Week on Monday, May 2.
Roe batted .500 (8-for-16) with 15 RBI, a home run, three doubles and four runs scored as SJU (21-15, 13-5 MIAC) went 3-1 on the road last week. He batted .714 (5-for-7) with two outs, .600 (6-for-10) with runners in scoring position and .583 (7-for-12) with runners on base in the four games. Nine of his 15 RBI came with two outs.
He went 2-for-7 and drove in seven, thanks to a bases-clearing double and a three-run homer, in Wednesday's split at Saint Mary's. Roe then batted 6-for-9 with two doubles, eight RBI and three runs scored in the Johnnies' high-scoring, doubleheader sweep of regionally ranked Gustavus Adolphus on Sunday.
Roe has 21 RBI, batting .579 (11-for-19) with four doubles and two homers, over his last five games. He is currently tied with teammate
Max Nyrop (Alameda, Calif.) for second in the MIAC with 25 RBI and is also tied for second in doubles (6) in conference play.
The Johnnies host Augsburg for the regular-season finale and Senior Day at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, in Collegeville.
