A LOOK AT THE JOHNNIES: Saint John's won its 13th outdoor team title, first since 2011, at the 2022 MIAC Championships last weekend (May 13-14) at Saint Mary's.
The Johnnies won five events Saturday (eight total for the two-day meet, nine total with the decathlon) for 218.25 points to win the 11-team field. St. Olaf was second (141), followed by Bethel (123) and Concordia-Moorhead (92.25).
Junior
Kevin Arthur (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) became the first Johnnie since 1982 (Chuck Williams '83) to win both the 100- and 200-meter dashes in the same MIAC meet, and was the second leg on the Johnnies' first-place 4x100-meter relay.
Arthur won the 100-meter dash with a personal-best and MIAC-record time of 10.51 seconds. A three-time conference champion in the event, senior
Ryan Miller (Maple Grove, Minn./Totino-Grace) earned his 11th All-MIAC honor (three indoors, eight outdoors) with a third-place finish (10.70). Senior
Jack Young (Cold Spring, Minn./Rocori) was close behind in fourth (10.99).
Less than an hour later, Arthur took first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.51 seconds. Young was fourth (22.05), 0.17 of a second from third place.
SJU's 4x100-meter relay (Young, Arthur, Labine,
Seth Cattoor) won the team's first conference title of the day - the Johnnies' third in the event in the last four seasons - in 41.53 seconds.
The Johnnies went 1-2 in the 800 meters, led by sophomore
Tommy Allen's (Woodbury, Minn./St. Paul Academy) MIAC-champion time of 1:54.94. Junior
Alexei Hensel (Buffalo, Minn.) was second in 1:56.06 for his first All-MIAC honor (top three individually, champion relay).

Joe Stauffer (Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti) followed in third (4.46 meters) for his first All-MIAC honor (top three individually, champion relay).
SJU picked up 22 points in the javelin, thanks to junior
Brett Hague's (Brainerd, Minn.) champion distance of 61.96 meters. The mark is a personal best and the eighth-best in NCAA Division III this season. Junior
